 Script for interview with French vegan restaurant owner Claire Vallee


ME: So how did you feel when you found out ONA was awarded a Michelin star?

CV: Well, overwhelmed, it felt amazing of course… Not only to receive the star but I think also to bring more recognition to vegan food and how good it can be, without all the animal products! I mean, our vegan food is up there with the best now and the recognition is good at showing it’s not boring.

ME: And is it true that you were self-taught before opening ONA?

CV: Yes, it has always been a real passion for me, and I must admit it has been really tough. I was crowdfunding in 2016, got a loan from the bank and then had to find volunteers over social media! But clearly it was all worth it, I am very proud of myself and the team for having the passion for it. I do not think we ever dreamed of getting a Michelin star.

ME: That’s impressive. What are your plans for the future in regard to ONA?

CV: The pandemic is putting a strain on all hospitality, so we’re planning on creating more accessible plant-based food whist keeping customers safe.

  Prospect is a British current affairs magazine specialising in politics and economics. The masthead is recognisable as the same logo is used on every issue of the magazine and the name of the magazine suggests someone who is likely to succeed. This has connotations of the readers of the magazine becoming prospects, possibly because of the topics covered in the magazine. This magazine breaks some codes and conventions as a magazine on their front cover. The main unique selling proposition would be that the covers are usually illustrated or collaged as opposed to having main images of celebrities and relevant people on the cover. This magazine also includes a tagline. ‘Think again, think prospect’ which implies that readers should choose Prospect as it is a magazine for educated and well-informed people.
